Blood Amber

Amber is the fossilized resin of prehistoric trees and it can be found in various places in the world. The color and structure of amber vary according to the types of trees from which it originated and also according to the place in which the trees grew. About 25-40 million years ago, climatic conditions in northern Europe were suitable for rapid growth of the trees, and thanks to high temperatures and humidity, trees produced excessive amount of resin. The trees produced the resin in the case of injury of a trunk or branches. Than during heavy rain, the resin was peeled off, and than started the long process of transformation of anber until today. The real amber also often contains small impurities, the bodies of prehistoric insects, which a few years ago sat on fresh resin and than stucked in it literally forever.These impurities can raise the price of amber, because every piece of this prehistoric material is an unmistakable original!

Amber has been used by mankind to make jewels since the Stone Age, and in thousands of years it has been called by many names: Gold of the North, Tears of the Gods, Petrified Honey or Solid Sunlight. The Baltic amber appears, for example, in Viking legends, where it was used as a protective amulet. It was believed that amber pieces are petrified tears of the Nordic goddess of beauty and love named Freya.
