Jade – meaning

Green jade is a very powerful healing stone that releases negative thoughts. Wearing green jade as a talisman can protect against failure and misfortune. Jade protects against diseases by enhancing the vital forces of the human body. Due to its rejuvenating effects, it is nicknamed the “Stone of Eternal Youth”. Jade was named after the Greek word “nephros”, which means “kidney”. Jade was believed to have a beneficial effect on this organ, which detoxifies the body.

In Asia, jade and jadeite have always been worshiped as a noble stones, mainly because these two stones have very similar appearance and properties. In ancient China was jade, due to its use in medicine, subject of a strict law which said that anyone who would destroyed an object made of this mineral, will be punished by death. The Chinese believed that jade was a cure for all diseases, and because of that it was the basic cornerstone of Chinese medicine. As a traditional part of Chinese culture, jade was also carved into various amulets and statues and the most famous were the dragon statues that adorned the Chinese emperor’s palace.
