Emerald – meaning
Deep green emerald is known as “Jewel of the Kings” and it is the most valuable variety of the gemstone beryl, similar to blue colored aquamarine or peach colored morganite. The emerald, also together with ruby and sapphire, forms the “Great Trio” of precious stones, the rarest and most prized, colorful minerals on the Earth. The name of this mineral comes from the ancient Greek word for green color, “emerald.”
This stone provides physical and mental balance and brings harmony to all areas of human existence. It has been considered by many civilizations to be a stone of prophets that brings wisdom, improves intuition, and helps with the search for truth. At the same time, was emerald valued for its calming effects on the troubled human mind. The Egyptians considered the emerald to be a symbol of eternal life, a gift from Thoth, the god of wisdom. Cleopatra allegedly adorned herself and her palace with emeralds and also give them as gifts to foreign diplomats to demonstrate her power and wealth.
The emerald stimulates unconditional love and is often referred as the “Stone of Successful Love”. This gemstone keeps the partnership in balance and represents an imaginary bridge between two people. The legend says that emerald is able to betray infidelity by changing its color.
