Red Jasper – Meaning
This stone is said to stimulate life force and promote courage. Native American tribes also knew it as “Blood of Mother Earth,” and their shamans used it as a powerful, sacred protective amulet in rituals against the “invisible dangers of the night,” as well as a stone of fertility and rebirth.
Red jasper also appears in Viking and Germanic legend, said to symbolize courage and to have decorated the hilt of the legendary sword belonging to Sigurd the Dragonslayer. In ancient Egypt, the stone was connected to the goddess Isis and to fertility, and sacred symbols were engraved onto red jasper placed with the dead to protect their journey through the afterlife.
