Aquamarine – Meaning

Aquamarine takes its name from the Latin aqua marinus — sea water — and one look at the stone explains it: a clear, pale blue-green, like sunlight falling through a calm, shallow sea. On this necklace the stone stays uncut, keeping the edges and light the earth gave it, so that every pendant is a small, singular fragment of sea you can wear.

For as long as people have sailed, that likeness has bound aquamarine to the ocean.
