Turquoise – meaning
Turquoise is probably the oldest ornamental stone used by man, serving for centuries as a talisman of kings, shamans and warriors. It is a stone of protection, opaque and soothing to the touch. Turquoise is often associated with power, justice, authority and balance. It is a stone of brave people: in ancient times turquoise often decorated daggers and swords. It gives strength to lead people and inspire them to fight for justice. Turquoise promotes self-realization, helps to find creative solutions to problems and stabilizes mood swings.
For nearly a thousand years, Native Americans have been mining turquoise and making their sacred jewellery from it. They believe that their minds will connect with the universe when they wear a turquoise amulet. The color of turquoise is according to them affected by the physical and mental condition of the person which wearing it. It is said that the color fades when its owner is sick or sad, and that it loses all color when a person dies. On the contrary, if the owner is happy and healthy, the color of turquoise is more saturated.
