Red jasper – meaning
This stone not only stimulates life force, but also promotes human courage. Therefore the North American Indians even call it “Stone of Courage” or “The Mother Earth Blood”. It was also used by their shamans as a powerful, sacred, protective amulet in their rituals against the “invisible dangers of the night” or as a stone of fertility and rebirth.
Red jasper also appears in Viking and Germanic legends. Its symbolized the courage and decorated the handle of the famous sword, which belonged to Sigfried the Dragonslayer. In ancient Egypt, this stone was brought into association with the goddess Isis and fertility. This stone was with engraved sacred symbols given on the body of the deadmen for the safe journey through the afterlife.
