Larimar – Meaning
Larimar’s colour ranges from a soft, milky blue to a rarer, more intense turquoise, prized as the finer-grade stone. Its discoverer named it after his daughter Larissa, adding the Spanish word for sea, “mar” — Lari + mar.
It’s also known as the “Dolphin Stone” or the “Stone of Atlantis”: legend holds that the present-day Dominican Republic was once part of the mythical civilisation of Atlantis, and that this beautiful blue stone carried healing power for its people. As an important meditation stone, larimar is valued for the sense of stillness it brings to long, quiet sessions.
