Lapis Lazuli – Meaning

The name is a small history in itself: “lapis,” the Latin word for stone, joined to the Persian “lazhward” — blue. The blue stone. Lapis lazuli is one of the oldest gemstones known to humankind, and few have been credited with so much: it is said to sharpen the mind, steady the judgement and shield its wearer from negativity, gently clearing away heavy, lingering energy and restoring inner balance.
