Aquamarine – Meaning
The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin words “aqua marinus,” meaning “sea water.” It’s named for its colour, which resembles the foam of sea waves. Aquamarine brings to mind the purity of clear water and the deep calm you feel listening to waves on the shore. It is a cleansing, calming gemstone that encourages trust and honesty.
In ancient tradition, aquamarine was believed to be the fossilized tears of mermaids, and sailors carried it as a lucky charm for courage and protection at sea.
