Rainbow Tourmaline – Meaning

Tourmaline occurs in a wider range of colours than almost any other gemstone, and each shade carries its own energy. Pink tourmaline, known as rubellite, is considered an exceptional stone for healing old emotional scars, believed to ease feelings of guilt, low mood, and anxiety. Green tourmaline, known as verdelite, carries a positive energy said to bring joy to life, spark compassion and patience, and ease the fear of change. Black tourmaline is a traditional protective stone, believed to guard against negativity and fear in general.

Tourmaline forms deep in the earth, under intense heat and pressure, and reaches the surface through volcanic activity. An ancient Egyptian legend describes the long journey it made from the earth’s core to the surface, passing through the rainbow along the way — which is said to be why it can be found in so many colours and shades. It’s a charming story, and not so far from the truth.
