Red Tiger’s Eye

Red tiger’s eye carries the same silky band of moving light as its golden cousin, but in a deeper, warmer register — a golden-red glow that shifts as it catches the light. Tiger’s eye has been carried as a talisman since ancient times; in Egypt it was set into the eyes of statues of the gods and known as the all-seeing eye, linked to Ra, the sun god, and Geb, god of the earth. Roman soldiers are said to have worn it into battle for courage, which is part of why it has long been considered a stone for men. Here it stands for prosperity and standing, and is said to dispel negativity as it draws warmth and confidence towards the wearer.

Black Onyx

Against that warmth, matte black onyx supplies the restraint. It is said to promote calmness and mental maturity, and to encourage its wearer to look for solutions rather than dwell on a problem — to push away any thought of giving up. One of the classic dark protective stones alongside black tourmaline and obsidian, it is traditionally said, through its deep colour, to absorb negativity from its surroundings.
