Crescent Necklace – Meaning
In ancient Egypt, Isis was known as the mother of the gods, queen of Egypt, and ruler of magic. The downward-facing crescent first appeared as an Egyptian symbol that literally means “moon.”
In Egyptian mythology, the moon was closely tied to fertility. It was believed that grain sown under a full moon would grow faster, and that herbs harvested at the full moon carried stronger healing properties. The Egyptians also believed that the moon’s fertile power caused new precious stones and gems to appear in the desert.
