Crescent necklace
Crescent necklace was in ancient Egypt a symbol of the goddess Isis, the mother of the gods. Isis was portrayed as the queen of Egypt, who controls magic and is the protector of motherhood, women and healers. The crescent-facing downward appeared for the first time as an Egyptian sign that literally means the moon.
In Egyptian mythology, in general, the moon bears the importance of fertility, it was believed that grain sown at full moon would grow faster, or that herbs harvested at full moon would have stronger therapeutic effects. The Egyptians also believed that due to the fertile power of the moon, new precious stones and gems appear in the desert.
